Watercolors

(I meant to make this post last week but the uploader was being slow...and now it works fine.)

Anyhow, since it is summer, I have been bored. So I picked up watercolors lately, and my "practice run" in which I attempted a self portrait turned out really good. So it is now posted on the internet. (You may have seen it already as my facebook profile pic.) I really like it. I want to do more portraits now.

No Freakin Way

As I was catching up on one of my favorite blogs, Design Sponge, I came across this post

And I was like....NO FREAKIN WAY!!!
Because I did almost the same design for the screenprinting project for Intro to Graphic Design class last year.

I still carry that bag around all the time...it just looks grungier and paint stained now. And I still have that yellow tank top, that I sometimes wear. But still. The same exact scattered yellow sprouts. WHOA.

What also threw me off too was that one of the designers from missprint (the company that was blogged about) has the same first name as me - Yvonne. Which also caught my eye as I skimmed through the blog, because as everyone probably experiences as well, if you see your name in a block of text it just jumps out at you.

What a weird weird world.

I'm not accusing them of ripping me off or anything. I know there's no way they copied my design...considering that first off, don't know who came first (though I did make this over a year ago), second off this design company is based in London...and also its not the exact same design, there ARE differences obviously. But yeah.

It's just such a mindblowing coincidence.

Been slaving away at my animation final lately. But here are some shots.

Guess what happens to the turtle!

Sketchbook page of the day

Occasionally I doodle some nice things in my sketchbook...or at least, I feel like they're nice. haha.
I call this one "Miss Beatrice, with a bow in her hair and feathers everywhere".

Bleach pen shirts

Yesterday I decided to try out the bleach pen idea that I've always heard about. It was awesome.

This is a dark brown cami (for some reason it just wouldn't photograph well), which turned pink/purple when bleached.

And this is a blue-gray shirt (one of the cheap 5 dollar ones you can get at Forever 21) - for some reason this one photographed really well. I decided to go all out and draw a peacock on this one.

All in all, bleach pen shirts are fun, and a great way to avoid working on ugly finals.
